A few things to point out: - For newbies, the Divine Gaze skill isn’t there by default-it comes with a unique doctrine - A very effective tactic I’ve seen with this unit is to advance back away from attacking infantry. The phalanx can even kill Reapers-the most dominant infantry right now-when used like this

I cant get over the fact, that when imp pikes and sunward phalanx advance at each other, the phalanx stands no chance... just a borderline trash unit even tho its my most favorite unit in the game. they cant turn around and fight against enemies in the back (even tho every other pike unit can) they loose so hard even against the front and their clunkiness just makes them unplayable... 0/10 from booming tech for such a wasted opportunits

Personally, i dont mind the blue meta week too much, the only thing that irritates me a bit tho, is how musket is absolutely dominant during that time period, their grenade combos being able to wipe out stacks of units if timed well. However since the duration of blue week isnt too long, it generally doesnt bother me too much and i feel like that it doesnt need any major changes.

I like their bottom line. Remove the gimmick expose doctrices use real ones they become great ball fighters. Stun on hit doctrine with double hit while braced bot line they can turn big fight just wlby walking in plus added benefit of demolishing cav that try to wipe the brawl

of course anything ranged can wreck them, they're pike units. an interesting thing to mention is that they will turn to face the closest nearby enemy when given the attack order while braced.

I am returning to this game when they make an Egyptian season ❤

Got to agree with most of this, especially the top line and using Storm Pound over Gale Strike. Just always be sure that you’re keeping the unit in your AoE range-it mitigates the low defense somewhat. Overall I really love this cav, and it’s probably going to be my favorite of all cav units going forward

S- every game will probably go well A- every game can go well, tho they got acounter which is commonly used B- If you must be familiar with the playstyle to do well C- there is a chance of a good game, but you need alot of knowledge regarding its skills. Most of youre games will end in disaster, but there still is a possibilty of a perfect game (once had a 120 kill azap game, but the other 5 went horribly) D- 98% of games go horribly, you must be extremley lucky to have a decent game. PS: Take this with a pinch of salt. This comparison usualy works for me, might not for everyone.

New cav honestly destroys I think they’re better then Kriegs

The Sergeants with Spear are suprisly good if they are fully maxxed out. Ok no CC effect like the China Shields but for a guard in a 5 People Gang. Cheap and they can tank a lot because of the Selfheal 24/7

Can you make a video on some overall good warband build seen your one on blue tier unit but be good if you include higher tier as well as defensive and attacking siege and field builds

What is that orange circle? I've seen it in replays when people play this unit, but no one adresses what it is.

Interesting that you say the Companion Cavalry seem to be best when they are circling around and attacking the enemy lines from behind, because that's actually really close to how Alexander tended to use the Companion Cavalry in real life. Alexander was always keeping his eyes peeled for whenever a gap would open up in the enemy lines, and the moment he saw one, he and his Companion Cavalry would ignore everything else and make a mad dash straight through that gap, which usually meant they had an open route straight to the enemy commander!

I use them as often as possible and Ive become quite fond of em. I mostly use gale strike as the cooldown is very short and since its a very fast unit, you can in and out fairly easily if you flank or get a strike from behind without getting much loss. Id just reposition and go again. I use the pound when Im stuck or when I really wanna finish off some shields or heroes. The mobility is insane and you dont have to wait very long compared to other cavs to make your next move.

guess the squishiness is to balance out the fact they recover 100hp every 2 seconds when near you. i should probably keep and eye out for that combat doctrine.

Prefecture heavy cav do a much better job comparing to these guys

I really enjoy these guys. Bit strange that they are glass cannons though, As Alexander used these Bad boys to break Infantry lines on many occasion. Right in the thick of it (quite sturdy)

Hey I have to disagree with the have to disagree with the Ghgs well they are definitely a niche unit are they still hold their own against wuwies ipgs and maa particularly on walls or in bottlenecks but in more open maps they're really bad I definitely say they're at least on par with halb Sargents if not just a little less

dont agree on azaps ! they actual counter many meta units, you can beat wuwei but its a mess, they totaly kill MMA with close to zero loses, they can counter imperial walk and kill the unit, and they totaly counter cav charged so they take no damage at all and slouther the horses :D they are defenitly A Tier.

Please tell me exactly HOW you are supposed to play Palace Guards nowadays. Apparently I have not figured out the new meta way to play them properly, because every time I send them in, they get slaughtered.

Nice tier list, agree with quite a bit on here. Couple unit comments - I’m a companion cav enjoyer, I think they’re insanely good. They need a good understanding of their role in order to be worthwhile. Not a charge cav, and they require a ton of micromanagement because they’re probably B tier if you don’t have them buffed via sworn guard. If you ride with them and micro them into good flanks they’re so good. Three abilities for different purposes too. 1 ability is perfect as a homing missle skill for flanks - wipes stuff like bad melee, archers, guns, etc. two skill is your mosh pit ball skill, bleed, slow, damage boost. Three skill is your immediate follow up after the two skill, extra damage to enemies effected by the two skill. After the buffs, with good doctrines and solid play - companion cav are high A tier overall - they were S tier imo during purple lock My other notes will be short, I think good players with heavy armor weapons can make greyhairs shine, I’ve run into some good players that make greyhair a pain to fight. Mastery imperial arqbusters are really good, probably a high B tier unit. Dagger axe and kreigbros are definitely a tier higher during purple lock. Last one is myrmallones - after the buff they’re annoying to fight. I don’t have them so I don’t know where they should go, but I think twice about fighting them now and don’t like seeing the other team hold points with them fwiw Overall, glad to see someone making updated tier lists and unit thoughts. Took a break from the game for a year + but loving this season and honestly the game is so good. For anyone looking for a “should I play” - I’m about 800 hours into this game and played really seriously back around seasons 8-10, the game is in a good spot with a solid player base and there isn’t anything like it. It’s grindy and maxed units vs underleveled units have a huge disparity, but follow a tier list and good some good stuff early on and give it a shot. 10/10 recommend

Fortes, kriegsrats and prefecture cav are A, daggers are S still. Kriegs bruders aren't really competitive anymore, very weak compared to daggers, would put them as B.

Zweihander/2 handed sword for sure not even close. berserk guts roleplay inbound. they can use inspiration from Nodachi mixed with maul and references from zweihander and claymore units for animations and vibe.
